HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Buffalo Raceway has announced that Franklin 'Bud' Meier of West Seneca, N.Y. is the recipient of the March Horseman of the Month at the track.

Involved in harness racing for over 50 years, the 91-year-old Meier is the owner of Call My Broker, Loaded Deck and has shares of Daylon Phantom and In Runaway Bay N. He is still a very active owner and can be seen every day in the barn helping out his trainer Angelo Nappo. As Mr. Meier said, "I do whatever I can in the barn, whether washing or toweling off a horse or cleaning up a stall. I like to stay active."

 

A retired Erie County Sheriff Deputy, Mr. Meier says while he can't move around as quickly as he used to, he's always the first one into the winner's circle to get his picture taken when one of his horses wins.

 

By being named the March Horsemen of the Month, Mr. Meier will receive a gift certificate from this month's sponsor, Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant and Ringside Bar located at 3785 South Park Avenue in Blasdell, New York.
