Hamburg, NY – Aspirations are high as the New York Sire Stakes start their 2012 campaign at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday (May 12) with a first post of 6:40 pm. 3 divisions of sophomore Colt Pacers will take to the Hamburg Oval in NYSS action going for purses over $48,000. Another 5 divisions of colt pacers will be competing in the Excelsior Series.
The first division starts the Pick 4 in race five when the Art Major colt Lawgiver Hanover will have Jim Morrill, Jr in the sulky. Also drawing in was Glass Prince who finished third at last year’s Night of Champions at Saratoga.
Union Man Hanover trained by Linda Toscano drew into the race nine division. The Artiscape colt took the New York Late Closer Series Final; now known as the Excelsior Series. Buffalo Raceway regular Kevin Cummings will be in the sulky of JK Panache, who has won his only start this season. The Bettor’s Delight colt Steelhead Hanover will look to regain his two year old form for trainer Joe Pavia Jr. in the middle division.
Forever Just highlights the final division, race ten, the Bettor’s Delight colt finished second at the NYSS Night of Champions and earned over $188,000 as a freshmen. Three others in the division also raced at the Night of Champions last October, Piece of Art Work, Dynamic Youth, and Twin B Hollister.
