Buffalo Raceway’s News and Notes
Buffalo Raceway announced today the scheduled building of two new barns to begin construction in September immediately after the 2012 Erie County Fair. “We have requested the New York State Racing and Wagering Board’s approval for the demolition of barns B, C1, and C2, to be replaced by new barns B and C,” said Jim Mango, COO of Buffalo Trotting Association. There will be eighty-six new stalls inclusive replacing the existing stalls.
The new barns will be ready for the start of the 2013 race meet, following the construction of three new barns for the 2012 race meet. “It has been a good year for the raceway. The horsemen and employees have been very cooperative in maintaining the stable area. The new barns with the other renovations including the dormitory, drainage, mats, and track resurfacing have been well received, not to mention the nine additional race days.”
With ten weeks remaining in the 2012 meet, Buffalo Raceway is up 80% in all source handle including on track and export. Mango attributes the gains to the 3% player rewards that have been enjoyed by the on track patrons; and the competitiveness of the racing with an outstanding driving colony and very good purses – and an exciting announcer.
Racing will continue four days per week for the remainder of the meet including the addition of Sunday afternoon racing in June and July.
Racing will resume on Saturday May 12, with first post scheduled for 6:40 pm, Eastern Time.
