HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Xenia's Chip was way too powerful for the ladies down the stretch in Buffalo Raceway's $10,000 Class A Open Pace for the filly and mares on Wednesday night (May 26) and pulled off a $23.20 shocker in a lifetime best of 1:56.2 over the fast track.

Sitting third approaching the three-quarter marker, Xenia's Chip (David McNeight III) went first over and got on even terms with the pace setting Robintheatm (Jim Morrill Jr.) approaching the head of the stretch. 

 

From there, Xenia's Chip left little doubt who was going to win as she exploded down the lane and turned back the late attempt by Protect Blue Chip (Travis Henry) and Ellieonthemove (Kevin Cummings).

 

Owned by Keith Pinkowski and trained by Jim Graham, it was the fourth trip to the winner's circle in 13 outings this season for the 4-year-old mare Xenia's Chip (Heston Blue Chip-Xenia Hanover). The win jacked her seasonal bankroll to $22,321 and $63,359 in her young career.

 

Lady Dudette (Kyle Cummings) scorched the field in the middle two splits with a :57.2 clocking and that proved to be more than enough to capture the $7,900 Class B Pace for the filly and mares.

 

Taking the lead off the starting gate, Lady Dudette ($7.70) went a leisurely opening panel of :30.1. Then with fractions of :58.4 and 1:27.3, Lady Dudette turned for home in front by two lengths and moved smartly to the line to beat the favored Robintheatm (Morrill Jr.) by three lengths in 1:56.2. Who's Got The Move (Shawn McDonough) got up for the third place check.

 

Trained by Tammy Cummings and owned by driver Kyle Cummings, it was the third victory in 14 tries this season for the 6-year-old mare Lady Dudette (Bettor's Delight-Luxury Goods). The win moved her 2021 earnings to $17,911 and $188,874 lifetime.

 

The $7,900 Class B Trot came down to a two horse race as Big Bill Breeze (McDonough) and Le Millenaire (Morrill Jr.) battled to the line and after a photo finish in 1:59.2, the pair had to share top honors settle for a dead heat.

 

Big Bill Breeze ($2.70) is trained by McDonough and co-owned by Rocco Stebbins and Benjamin Ortiz. It was his fourth victory in 13 attempts.

 

Le Millenaire ($2.90) is conditioned by Lisa Mariacher and owned by Erin Moran. He has now scored two victories in 15 starts on the campaign.

 

 

Racing will continue on Saturday night at 6 p.m. with 12 events scheduled.
