The favored McNatural L (David McNeight III) had early control of the lead and posted reasonable fractions of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:26.0. Looking good turning for home, McNatural L started to feel the pressure from Lookatmyart (Shawn McDonough) and Dance Ticket (Jim Morrill Jr.).
In deep stretch, Lookatmyart got into high gear in the passing lane and was able to zoom past McNatural L by a half length in 1:55.2. Dance Ticket was able to hang on for the show spot.
Owned by Super Mile LLC and trained by Angelo Nappo, it was the first win of the campaign in 12 starts for the 7-year-old mare Lookatmyart (American Ideal-Abrokenart Hanover). The victory upped her seasonal bankroll to $24,020 and $257,708 lifetime.
Kevin Cummings won the Buffalo Raceway driving championship for the first time in several years after scoring the win aboard True That ($2.80) in the fifth race. Since 2019, Cummings has finished either second or third in the driver's standings but finally clinched the elusive title on Sunday. He finished with 96 victories and over $775,000 in purse earnings.
Racing is expected to resume at Buffalo Raceway in 2025.
