William "Bill" Richardson was born on May 9, 1933, to Helen and Roy Richardson in Lackawanna, NY. He grew up in Hamburg, NY alongside his brothers John and Roy. From a young age, Bill displayed a passion for sports and the outdoors, attending Hamburg High School and later St. Lawrence University, where he excelled athletically. In 1955, Bill enlisted in the Army, serving his country with honor for two years before transitioning to civilian life.

Richardson.jpgIn 1957, Bill married the love of his life, Marie, whom he met through a unique twist of fate, Marie's brother-in-law was Bill's football coach at St. Lawrence University. Their union was a steadfast partnership, marked by mutual support and shared ambitions. Marie's groundbreaking career as the first woman deputy county executive in Erie County was a source of immense pride for Bill.

Professionally, Bill distinguished himself as the managing partner at Trubee Collins & Co., where he dedicated over six decades to financial services, shaping the firm's legacy and contributing to its milestone achievements, including becoming the only Buffalo-based company as a member of the New York Stock Exchange at the time. Beyond his career, Bill was a pillar of his community, serving as a director for several esteemed organizations, including First Federal Savings and Loan of Hamburg, Prospect Lawn Cemetery Association, and the Better Business Bureau of WNY. His commitment to community service reflected his belief in giving back and nurturing the places he cherished.

 An avid outdoorsman, Bill found solace and joy in nature. He pursued his passions for hunting pheasant and grouse, and fishing for trout and musky, often spending cherished moments at his family cottage on Lake Chautauqua and in Florida. Skiing was another beloved pastime, and he was instrumental in the Red Jacket ski club in Eden, where his leadership left a lasting impact. Bill's zest for life extended to travel, exploring Europe, Africa, and ski trips to Colorado with Marie and friends. His membership at Springville Country Club provided a venue for his love of golf, where he enjoyed friendly competition and camaraderie.

Bill's deep-rooted love for horse racing was nurtured by his father, who served as a judge at Buffalo Raceway. This early exposure ignited Bill's lifelong passion for the sport, leading him to actively participate as an enthusiast throughout his life, including driving his horses at local county fair races. In his later years, Bill remained deeply involved in Buffalo Raceway, serving as president of the board of directors, and continued to pursue his passion for horse racing, achieving notable successes and even competing in prestigious events like the Hambletonian with his trotter, "Tight Lines."

Bill Richardson's life was one of achievement, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and a profound impact on all who had the privilege to know him. His family, friends, and community will forever cherish his memory as they continue to celebrate his remarkable journey.
