HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Chelseas Chance made quite an impression on her new owner/trainer Sabrina Clevenger on Friday night (June 1) as the 7-year-old mare tied the all-time trotting record at Buffalo Raceway with a 1:56.1 mile that also smashed the aged mare (5+) mark in the sub-featured $9,200 Open II event.

Chelseas Chance ties and breaks track records in victory.

Along the unexpected track records, Chelseas Chance (Ray Fisher Jr.) shocked the betting public with a $19.80 victory.

In going the gate-to-wire mile in a blazing 1:56.1 over the fast track on the sultry evening, Chelseas Chance tied the all-time standard established in 2014 by Gural Hanover and shattered the aged (5+) mare mark of 1:57.0 set by Winkys Pride in 2015.

In the featured $11,500 Open Trot, the record book will have to be updated again thanks to Fisher Jr. as he guided Barn Winner to a $14.20 stunner in 1:56.3 which tied the 4-year-old gelding track record posted in 2016 by Noble Legend.

Scoring from the rail, Chelseas Chance had things her way right from the start in putting up splits of :29.0, 58.1 and 1:27.1. There was no doubt in the stretch as she had things well in hand as Noble Legend (Billy Davis Jr.) could get no closer than four lengths at the wire. SR Radar (Drew Monti) was third.

It was the fourth win of the season for Chelseas Chance (Kadabra-Armbro Chelsea) and moved her seasonal earnings to $18,241 and $238,672 lifetime. Clevenger claimed Chelseas Chance last week for $10,000 and its proving to be a wise decision.

Barn Winner captures Open Trot, tying track standard.

Barn Winner, in just his third start of the campaign, etched his name into the record book by using a first-over trip to capture the Open Trot.

Sitting third behind the fraction-setting Southern Palms, Fisher Jr. snuck Barn Winner to the outside down the backstretch and rolled to the lead, leaving the field in his wake. A :29.3 final panel proved to be more than enough as Barn Winner trotted off to the 2-1/4 length score over Empire Earl N (Jim Morrill Jr.). BZ Glide (Mike Caprio) finished in third place.

Conditioned by Ryan Swift and co-owned by the Tanah Merah Farm LLC and the Swift Racing Stable, the 4-year-old Barn Winner (Credit Winner-Hallmarker T) found the winner's circle for the first time in three tries in 2018. The victory moved his seasonal total to $6,325 and $135,293 in his career.

Fisher Jr. completed the evening with five winners on the eight-race program while Swift had three training victories.

Racing will continue on Saturday night with a 12-race card scheduled for 6 p.m.
