HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Double Joy is finding that shuffling off to Buffalo was the right move.

After departing Freehold Raceway in the end of April, Double Joy ($7.80) has been finding her new digs at Buffalo Raceway to her liking as she won her second straight with an easy 2-1/4 length victory over Voltina in the $8,200 event for the distaff pacers on Wednesday night (May 31).

 

In posting a seasonal best of 1:54.4 over the fast track, Double Joy has now a pair of victories, a second and a third place finish in her four appearances over the Hamburg half-mile oval.

 

Double Joy rocketed off the starting gate for driver Larry Stalbaum and they set the fractions of 28.0, 56.2 and 1:25.3 while the favored Voltina (Kevin Cummings) got the pocket trip.

 

In the race for home, Double Joy's lead was never in jeopardy as she smartly paced to the wire and scored the impressive win. Voltina managed to hang on for second while Who Says That (Ray Fisher Jr.) was third.

 

Owned by Irwin Kaplan and trained by Bo Sowers, it was the ninth victory in 21 tries this season for Double Joy (Armbro Deuce-Jenna's Joy). The 6-year-old mare has earned $25,675 in 2017 and $154,970 lifetime.

 

Stalbaum continued his winning ways at Buffalo Raceway as he put another four victories on the board while Jim Morrill Jr. and Drew Monti added a pair apiece. Trainers Kim Asher, JD Perrin and Sowers each doubled.

 

Racing will resume on Friday night at 5 p.m. with an 11-race card scheduled. There's a $972 carryover in the Pick-5 which begins in the second race.
