HAMBURG, N.Y.--- After several near misses in Buffalo Raceway's Open Trot division, Heartsaregonnaroll took a step down to the featured $8,400 Open II level Friday night (March 14) and it paid off with a well-deserved half-length victory over Armed Dangerously in 1:59.4 over the fast track.
With a trio of second place finishes in her last four starts, Heartsaregonnaroll (Kevin Cummings) scooted out to the lead and set fractions of 30.1, 1:01 and 1:30.2. In the lane, the slightly favored Armed Dangerously (Aaron Byron) and Sack Full Of Gold (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) were the lone threats, but couldn't catch the front-running but game Heartsaregonnaroll ($4.90).
It was the second victory in nine starts this season for the 5-year-old mare who is owned by Paul and Ronald Viele. Heartsaregonnaroll, trained by Alex Giuliani, has now earned $18,466 in 2014.
Drew Monti, Kevin Cummings and Aaron Byron all posted driving doubles on the night.
A 12-race card is slated for 6:40 p.m. on Saturday night at Buffalo Raceway.
