HAMBURG, N.Y. --- After a pair of sub par efforts, Julio's Girl found the rail to be the cure for those subtle woes on Wednesday night as she pulled off a surprising $33.60 neck victory over Lady London in Buffalo Raceway's $11,500 Class A-Open Handicap Pace for the fillies and mares.

Julio's Girl posts $33.60 win in Wednesday feature.

Julio's Girl (David McNeight III), who had a three-race win streak earlier in the meet, managed a fourth and fifth place finish in her previous two tries.

Drawing the rail, Julio's Girl  was able to draft behind the pace setting Blackandsweet Adda A. With fractions of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.4 over the fast surface, Blackandsweet Adda A was a sitting duck in the stretch as the closers lined up to fire off their best shots.

Under siege in the lane, Blackandsweet Adda A could only watch as the charge was led by Julio's Girl who dipped into the passing lane and was able to hold off the late bids by Lady London (Ray Fisher Jr.) and Carly Girl (Drew Monti) who took second and third place respectively.

Owned by William Emmons and trained by James Clouser Jr., it was the sixth win in 10 appearances for the 7-year-old mare Julio's Girl (Art Director-Prayer Answered). The victory moved her seasonal earnings to $28,903 and $173,723 lifetime.

The 2020 live racing season at the Hamburg half-mile oval  will conclude on Saturday night with a 13-race card scheduled for 6 p.m.
