HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Missevil was good enough when she had to be, at the finish line.
Getting a perfect ground saving trip behind the pace-setting Memumsnotnice, Missevil ($6.00) ducked into the passing lane and got up in time to post a half length victory in 1:57.3 over a good track in Buffalo Raceway's $8,200 featured pace for the mares on Wednesday night (April 6).
Memumsnotnice raced to lead from the start and set fractions of 30.0, 59.3 and 1:28.1 while Missevil (Jack Flanigen) sat back enjoyed the pocket ride. With a quarter mile to pace, Mach This Way was first over and went eyeball to eyeball with Memumsnotnice but couldn't gain the lead.
But that battle on the front end softened up Memumsnotnice enough to allow Missevil to roll on by in deep stretch via the passing lane. Memumsnotnice (Billy Davis Jr.) held on for second while Mach This Way (Ron Beback Jr.) took the show spot.
Owned by Vogel and Wags Nags Stables, Chris Shambo and Jack Rice, Missevil (Armbro Deuce-Impudent Hall) is trained by Maria Rice. The 5-year-old mare has won four times in 13 starts this season, earning $21,497 and $83,598 lifetime.
Billy Davis Jr., tripled, Jim McNeight and David McNeight III each posted driving doubles while JD Perrin and David McNeight Jr. trained two winners.
Racing will continue on Friday night with a 12-race card beginning at 5 p.m.
