HAMBURG, N.Y.--- Taylor Rei took advantage of a drop in class and an inside post position to narrowly escape with a nose victory over Fiftyonefifty in the featured $7,600 Fillies and Mares conditioned/optional claiming pace at Buffalo Raceway Wednesday evening (April 23).

After gamely competing in Open competition for fillies and mares the past five starts, Taylor Rei ($9.30) set sail from the rail with driver Ray Fisher Jr. in the sulky and posted fractions of 29.3, 59.2, and 1:28.1. Fiftyonefifty (Kevin Cummings) sat the pocket and tried to get past Taylor Rei in deep stretch but came up just a disappointing nose short. Kisses N Kicks (David McNeight III) took the show position.

Taylor Rei covered the mile in 1:57 over the fast track in scoring her second victory in nine starts this season. Owned by Mo Koo Inc. and Jonathon Klee Racing and trained by Ryan Swift, the 6-year-old mare has now earned $14,770 in 2014 and $98,162 lifetime.

The racing will resume on Friday night at 6:40 p.m. when Buffalo Raceway will present a 13-race program.
